El Camino
So, listening to El Camino finally……..on about my fourth listen today, and trying to figure out what I think about it.
Of course, it is the fucking Black Keys, and they are almost always pure genius, yeah? Yeah.
It’s definitely(so far) not as good as Brothers, but there are a few gems, my favorite, so far, being Little Black Submarines. The song has it all,..everything that hooked you on the Black Keys in the first place; the longing in those forlorn lyrics, the slow ballad, then the build up, that garagey driven distortion. It’s rock n’ roll at it’s very finest. The Keys have the formula, and they keep mixing up amazing song after amazing song.
The White Stripes - Let’s Shake Hands
From the The White Stripes Japanese Edition, self titled debut. It’s pretty great…..and Damnit! I miss them already.

After a couple listens, I’m still not sure what I think of it. I love the Smashing Pumpkins and all, but eh,…I really don’t know.
The song features typical SP sound with crashing guitars, and nasally vocals as well as Billy Corgans always interesting lyrics. Also, has some nice female backup vocals that add a different touch.
