The Walkmen - We Can’t Be Beat

This is the best thing I have listened to today, and that’s pretty crazy because I was listening to a pretty damn good Andy Bird song like right before it.

Sometimes I forget what a great band this is.

Slow, acoustic goodness with vocals and lyrics semi reminiscent of something from the 50’s or 60’s. Harmonizing background vocals. Then it takes off. Electric. Really, just a beautiful song, perfect for Monday morning listening.

The new album, Heaven, is due out May 29th.

Passion Pit - Take a Walk

This is crazy awesome seeing a new Passion Pit track this morning, because I was seriously just thinking about them, and why we hadn’t heard or seen anything new from them in a bit.

..And of course it’s great. A slightly more serious message behind the lyrics of this song, but it’s same amazing sound that made you like them in the first place.

The new album, Gossamer fittingly hits stores this summer(7/24).

Slow, sexy guy on girl vocals with some nice, floaty electro slightly reminiscent of the XX.

Give these guys a listen, buy some tracks or some shwag,… go see a show.

Beach House -Equal Mind

This was taken from the B- side of the  7” split released on Record Store Day, and supposedly will NOT be on the new album, Bloom (due out 5/15). Knowing they are leaving songs as quality as this off the new album, makes me all the more excited to hear it. Also, I really like how they seem to be sticking to a winning formula instead of overly experimenting.

This isn’t really the type of artist, despite how talented she is, I would normally post about, or even listen to, but my sister told me about her and asked if I could find the album for her. So, I was listening and doing a little research, and apparently she’s already been and is a huge deal in the UK, and undoubtedly will very soon blow up the U.S. in typical Adele like fashion.

All that blah blah being said, I really like this song, River. There are a few other songs I kinda liked too, but if you like this track, you should probably check her out. She has a ridiculously amazing voice, and some pretty amazing lyrics. …. Oh, and apparently she could have signed a huge record deal atlike 16 but went to school for medicine for like ten years and has a tattoo of Frida.  Ha. I thought that was kinda cool.

Fanfarlo - A Flood

Hey, did you know the new Fanfarlo album was out? I kinda forgot this was coming out and then got it yesterday, and have given it at least 4 or 5 plays since then.

The track, A Flood, is by far my favorite, but I can tell this whole album, Rooms Filled With Light, will be getting a lot of play over the summer. Filled with lush, loud instrumentation, and vocals slightly reminiscent of Beirut’s Zach Condon, Fanfarlo openly soars back with a truly beautiful album.

The other evening someone asked me if I liked music videos, and I had to pause for a second,……I used to fricking love music videos, maybe back when MTV actually played music videos and watching music videos was a form of getting turned on to new shit. That thought aside, yes, I do like music videos, but they have to be pretty special to hold my attention.

The video for Oberhofer’s Away Frm U, is well…..special. Haha Kidding, kidding. It’s fun, bouncy, slightly psychedelic and well,I just have really liked this song since it came out, so just watch it. ;)
